PE and Sport Premium

PE Premium Spending Statement 15/16

Spending 15/16

Allocation £8288

£4000 of the money has been used to support the continued development and improvement of our PE curriculum to support the staff and enhance the provision and experience for all the children. This has taken the form of a specialist PE teacher attending school one afternoon a week and working with all of the teachers to provide support and coaching for PE lessons. In addition, a lunchtime club has also been provided and lunchtime staff given instruction for playground games etc. The impact of this has been that the Games curriculum lessons have been better and therefore children have been inspired and able to attend more sporting events.

Attending these sporting events used an additional £500 approx of the grant which was spent staffing outside competitions eg tag rugby, cross country & infant football.

£4000 has been put towards the cost of a new metal PE storage shed including the cost of a concrete base. This ensures that resources are stored correctly, and therefore maintained for longer and readily available to the children and teaching staff.

As well as the detailed spending above we also used part of the main school budget towards the development of PE, sport and participation.

  • £400 was spent of general updating resources.
  • £700 was spent on New Forest School Sport Partnership

Funding 14/15

£4000 has been allocated to the continued employment of the teaching specialist. In addition to the benefits stated above we are focussing on developing teacher’s skills in teaching Gymnastics as well as Games. During lesson observations this area, Gym, was weak in teaching in some cases and so it has been recognised as an area of need within the PE curriculum.

£500 spent on new sports kit eg infant football kit, running vests

£500 spent on further resources - complete class hockey set, 40 new footballs and storage for them.

The rest of the grant has now been allocated as below.

£700 annual membership to the School Games organisation-they run the competitions and used to be known as the New Forest Schools Partnership

£500 approx on covering staff costs to attend sporting events throughout the year.

£1500 updating of Gym resources in line with curriculum developments.

£500 general updating of Games resources.
