In Foxes we are;
Each day we have lessons in;
At Tiptoe School we learn cursive handwriting which means we learn to do lead ins and lead outs on all our lower case letters. We learn to write this way because it will help us to join our letters when we are ready to do so.
In phonic lessons we teach children the sound made by each letter which helps them to read and write words. We follow a phonics scheme called Monster Phonics.
Click on these links to hear the sounds and actions.
You can find out more about Monster Phonics by clicking on this link.
We use concrete resources, pictorial and abstract representations to show that we fully understand what we have learnt.
Here are some resources to support your child's Maths learning at home
This half term our literacy lessons will be focused on these texts.
At Tiptoe we use the Oxford Reading Tree reading scheme. In year R the children will be learning the names of the characters. As the half term progresses year R will be given a picture book featuring some of the characters.

The Early Learning Goals
The Early Learning Goals (ELGs) are the goals or targets children are expected to achieve at the end of their Reception year. They will be working towards these goals throughout the Early Years Foundation Stage. There are 17 ELGs across all the areas of learning.
The EYFS Profile is broken down into seven specific areas of learning:
- Communication and language
- Physical development
- Personal, social and emotional development (PSE)
- Understanding the world
- Expressive arts and design
Within each of these areas, there are specific Early Learning Goals – for example, in the case of Communication and language, these are Listening, attention and understanding, and Speaking.
The children will have opportunities to explore the world around them and learn though a play based curriculum.
