SEN Resourced Provisions
At Tiptoe we are proud to have 2 resourced provisions. We have two small resourced provision for children with moderate to severe learning difficulties (MLD/SLD) and complex social communication difficulties (usually ASD). Children who are in these classes have an EHCP and are placed by Hampshire County SEN. We receive a high number of requests for tours however this can be difficult for our children so we have set open mornings for families to visit us and see what's on offer. Please phone our friendly office team to find out when the next tour is planned.
At Tiptoe's resource provisions, we have a long term plan for our personal development curriculum. This contains sequenced learning steps and opportunities. We know our children well and carefully track them so that any next steps can be tailored to each child.
We believe in keeping the children active. This meets some of their sensory needs as well as building core strength and stability (and being very enjoyable). Every child will have planned sensory circuits daily, the children love to get involved in these sessions. The children follow a programme which is right for them. They may use our wide range of visits to keep themselves fit and engage and or join mainstream classes for P.E., We also attend 'Can do' festivals to experience a range of inclusive activities.
An important part of our curriculum are our active visits. The children typically go out of school twice a week. The visits vary to suit each cohort they include: inclusive cycling in the forest (Pedall), horse therapy, forest school, walks in the forest and swimming.
We also have visits that focus on speech, language and communication. The children interact with others, learning social skills and speaking to different adults these can be to the library, supermarkets and garden centres.
Our children follow a bespoke curriculum, enhanced by selecting parts of the mainstream curriculum designed to inspire and engage them. For example, they may make an Anglo Saxon bread, Roman helmet or a video about the moon landing to help them to remember key aspects of history. As they are learning similar topics this means our children can join trips or classes if appropriate to their needs.
Each provision has carefully considered ways to meet their children's sensory as well as speech and language needs. There are planned speech and language opportunities each day.
Our aim is that all SEN children feel a sense of belonging at Tiptoe and are happily engaged in learning as a valued part of our school community.
